Friendship with God
We all love fairy tales…especially the story of the hero who will go to any lengths to rescue his friend from the throes of death or disaster. Who could fail to be moved by what Frodo goes through to save Middle Earth, or the lengths to which the Prince will go to save Snow White? We were made for this story, and it never gets old.
The Bible is the mother of all fairy stories, with a twist: it is the fairy tale that actually comes true! The Bible is the story of the lengths to which God will go to rescue not his friends, but his enemies. This week we will be looking at how God turns rebellious people into his friends. The Bible calls this “Justification.” For you to have what your heart needs most—friendship with God—God’s own Son laid aside the glories of heaven, became human, lived on this earth in our skin, obeyed God with all his heart, and at the end, was put to death on a cross. Do you know the best part? The reason Jesus would do all this was because of his great love for you! For you He went into the far country, for you He went through hell, and for you He gave his life so that you could have his friendship. This sounds too good to be true, but true it is!
Join us at RYM 2012 as we discover how we can be friends with God!
