RYM Summer Conference 2011 Theme
"It's All Relative. . . Or Is It?"
Trusting in the Authority of Scripture
Jesus
built his life on Scripture. In fact we might say, humanly speaking, the secret
to Jesus’ greatness—his moral courage, his meekness, and his love for people—is
that he immersed his life in Scripture. Jesus habitually quoted Scripture. Even
while dying, he was being shaped by the written revelation of God! Today, the
question we face is not much different from the one Jesus faced: when
confronted with the uncertainties of life, what authority are you going to
trust? Will you trust your own
limited and finite wisdom or the infallible wisdom of Scripture? The Bible
claims to be nothing less than revelation from God, a word from above that
speaks into the chaos, brokenness, and messiness of life. At our RYM 2011
summer conferences, we will look at this astounding claim and think about what
we want to shape our lives. We will all build our lives on something—it will be
either the bedrock of Holy Scripture or the shifting sand of time and chance.
