REFORMED YOUTH MINISTRIES
P.O. BOX 697
COOKEVILLE, TN 38503
John Perritt grew up in Laurel, MS, and moved up north to Ridgeland, MS, after marrying his wife, Ashleigh in 2003. While he initially worked at Southern Farm Bureau Life Insurance, the Lord would call him back into youth ministry on a full-time basis, shortly after their move.
God had used Reformed University Fellowship and a summer at Alpine Camp for Boys to plant the seed of youth ministry in John’s heart. After working at SFBLI for a year, he was hired as a Youth Intern at Pear Orchard Presbyterian Church in Ridgeland. While working at POPC, John graduated from Reformed Theological Seminary with his Masters of Divinity in 2009 and his Doctorate of Ministry in Family Ministry from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2016.
Growing up, John never read a book – he despised reading (unless the book had pictures…lots of pictures). As the Lord has matured his faith, he not only enjoys reading, but has a growing desire to write. John had zero aspirations to write for the majority of his life, but has sensed this desire growing with each passing year. In fact, he published a book entitled, Your Days Are Numbered, in the Spring of 2016 and has a forthcoming book entitled, What Would Judas Do?, set for release in 2017.
In the midst of wrestling with a desire to write, Joey Stewart approached him about becoming the Resource Coordinator for RYM. That conversation at Starbucks solidified many of the callings John had been praying about, so he came on staff with RYM in 2017. Although John will be stepping away from his role as Youth Director, he carries with him the same zeal to minister to teenagers, parents and youth workers, simply in a different context.
John and his wife, Ashleigh, have five children: Sarah, Samuel, Jillian, Will, & Amber.
Training & Church Intern Coordinator
Michael, a native of Shreveport, LA, attended college at Ole Miss in Oxford, MS. God was gracious and called Michael to faith in Christ through the Reformed University Fellowship ministry as a freshman at Ole Miss. After graduation, he spent a year of study in Salzburg, Austria. Michael then attended Covenant Theological Seminary, where he received a Master of Divinity.
Michael's relationship with RYM begin the summer of 2000 at the beloved Laguna Beach Christian Retreat Center. Since that time, he has taken groups from the likes of Clemson Presbyterian Church, Kirk of the Hills and Trinity Presbyterian Church in Charlottesville, VA to many RYM summer conferences. Michael played a large role in helping start the 2015 High School Mid-Atlantic conference.
Michael has also been a big proponent for RYM's Youth Leader Training (YLT) since its beginnings. The call to minister full-time with RYM as the Training & Church Intern Coordinator comes as no surprise given his past experiences and passions in caring for His Church and for the next generations.
Michael and his wife, Kirby, have three children: McKenzie, Carter & John Thomas.
Kevin grew up in Germantown, TN and attended many RYM summer conferences as a student. He remembers his RRPC youth group dominating RYM volleyball tournaments and he claims to be a 3-time A-League Volleyball Champion! Kevin took his athleticism to college and both played and coached soccer at Belhaven College.
Somehow, Kevin managed to incorporate his love of sports into an education and earned an undergraduate degree in Sports Ministry and a graduate degree in Sports Administration. Continuing the sports theme, he chased different athletic jobs across the country including stops in Mississippi, Colorado, Washington D.C. and eventually landing back in Tennessee.
Providentially, he then served as the Youth Director at his home church, Riveroaks for two years and continued taking students to RYM summer conferences (even winning the Mega-Rec Championship one summer).
Kevin has served as part of the RYM staff since 2012.
Kevin is married to the Dr. Julia Friedman, who holds a Masters Degree in Biblical Studies from Reformed Theological Seminary as well as a PharmD from the University of Tennessee. She is a Pharmacist at Erlanger Health System and also speaks regularly at ministry events.
Joey graduated from the University of Mississippi with a BA in Psychology where he also became heavily involved in the ministry of Reformed University Fellowship. After college he attended Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson, MS and graduated with a Master of Divinity in 1992.
After spending several summers ministering to youth at camps such as Alpine Camp for Boys in Mentone, AL and Twin Lakes Camp in Florence, MS, he became the director of youth and educational ministries at First Presbyterian Church in Yazoo City, MS where he ministered for nearly 5 years.
In 1993 he accepted a call to become the assistant pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Crossville, TN with the responsibility of planting a PCA church in Cookeville, TN. Grace Presbyterian Mission was immediately formed and he remained in Cookeville as the organizing pastor and later senior pastor of Grace Presbyterian Church, PCA for 14 years. He then accepted a call in February of 2007 to become the Executive Director of Reformed Youth Movement (RYM).
Joey has served on the TN Area Joint Presbytery Committee on Campus Ministry (RUF) since 1994 and as chairman of that committee since 1998. He has also served on several General Assembly RUF committees. Additionally, he has been a member of the board of directors for Reformed Youth Movement since 1990 and possesses a resolute zeal and passion to serve the church and extend the kingdom through the expanding mission of RYM.
Joey is married to the beautiful Connie Cawthorn and together they have four children: Ashley Grace (Wilkinson), Joseph Wesley, Hannah Faith and Jennifer Cawthorn as well as a Hungarian Sheepdog, Maggie.
